Sync your library across devices

Sync is optional. Without a cloud account, SuperCapture works entirely on your Mac. When you turn on SuperCapture Cloud, you choose what syncs: folders sync unless you turn them off, and collections sync whatever you add to them. Synced captures reach your account and every Mac signed in to it.

  1. Open Settings → Cloud Account.
  2. Click Sign In. Your browser opens so you can sign in or create an account, then sends you back to the app.
  3. Turn on Enable SuperCapture Cloud.

Repeat on each Mac you want to keep in step.

If you’re upgrading from an earlier version, the app may ask Filed items now sync, with a count of what will upload. Click Sync Filed Items to accept. If you decline, the app asks again next launch.

The rule is simple: file it to have it everywhere.

Item Syncs?
Captures in a folder inside your save folder Yes
Captures you add to a collection Yes
New unfiled captures in Inbox For a limited window after capture (14 days by default)
Folders you turned off with Don’t Sync This Folder No, unless you add an item to a synced collection yourself
Linked directories No, unless you add an item to a collection yourself

To keep a folder on this Mac only, right-click it in the sidebar and choose Don’t Sync This Folder. Choose Sync This Folder to include it again. Filing is covered in Folders, collections and tags.

Changes to synced items reach your other Macs too:

  • A file you rename on one Mac is renamed on the others.
  • Tags and moves to the trash sync.
  • Hiding an item only applies on the Mac where you hid it.

Folders other people share with you appear under a Shared folder in your save folder.

Plan Synced items Fair-use storage
Free 500 2 GB
Individual Unlimited 50 GB
Pro Unlimited 100 GB

Limits count only items you own that haven’t been deleted:

  • Shared with you: items in folders other people share with you don’t use your items or storage.
  • Saved copies: saving a shared item into your own library makes a copy, and that copy counts.
  • Freeing space: deleting a synced item frees its slot and storage right away.

Storage use is measured daily, so a large upload can take a day to show in your usage.

Nothing is deleted, and everything already synced keeps syncing. The app tells you that you’ve used all your synced items or cloud storage. New captures past the limit stay on the Mac you made them on. Delete synced items or upgrade your plan to get more room.

  • Sign out (Settings → Cloud Account) turns sync off on that Mac. Your local gallery stays where it is.
  • Delete Account… permanently deletes your cloud account. Your local gallery isn’t touched.

If your plan uses end-to-end encryption, a new Mac asks for your recovery password before it can open your encrypted captures. For what the cloud service stores, see Security.

The iPhone and Android apps haven’t been released yet.
