Share a capture as a web page

SuperCapture has two ways to share, and they work differently:

  • Web pages publish an item you own to a link. Anyone with the link can open it in a browser without an account.
  • Shared folders give specific people access through their own SuperCapture accounts. See Share a folder with people below.

Both need a SuperCapture Cloud account, so the dialog asks you to sign in first.

  1. Right-click an item in the gallery and choose Share…. You can also use Share… (⌘E) in the menu bar.
  2. Turn on Publish to the web. If the item isn’t in the cloud yet, the dialog shows upload progress. You can Cancel to leave it unshared.
  3. When the link appears, click Copy, or click the link to see what your recipient will see.

A large image’s link first serves a smaller preview while the original finishes uploading in the background. You can close the dialog.

To copy the link again later, right-click the file name in the details panel and choose Copy Share Link.

These settings are in the same dialog. You can change them before or after publishing. Click Update to apply changes.

Setting What it does
Require password? Visitors must enter a password before the page loads. Repeated wrong guesses are rate-limited. Individual and Pro.
Page expires? The link stops working after 1 day, 7 days, 30 days, 3 months or 1 year. Individual and Pro.
Auto-update when edited? On by default. When you edit the item, the page shows the new version.
Enable comments? Pro. On by default. Visitors can leave comments on the page.
  • The item. Images and PDFs show in a viewer, and video and audio play in the browser. There is a Download button. A page with several items also offers a zip of all of them.
  • Who shared it. The page shows your display name and the capture date, never your email address.
  • Comments, if enabled. On a video, a comment can be pinned to a moment on the timeline.
  • Branding. Pages shared from the Free plan carry SuperCapture branding. Individual and Pro remove it. See pricing.

Share pages ask search engines not to index them. Password-protected pages don’t show a preview image when the link is pasted into chat apps.

A single page can also hold an ordered group of up to 200 images or PDFs. Video and audio can only be shared on their own page.

  • Encrypted items. The server only holds an unreadable encrypted copy, so it can’t show one on a page. The app says “Encrypted items can’t have a web page yet.” See End-to-end encryption.
  • Items you don’t own, such as items in a folder someone shared with you.

Open Share… again and turn off Publish to the web, then confirm Take it down. Anyone holding the link loses access immediately.

Sharing the item again later creates a new page at a different address. The old link can’t be brought back.

Sharing with specific people works on folders, so everyone sees the same files.

  1. Right-click a folder in the sidebar and choose Share….
  2. Under Invite by email, enter an address, choose Editor or Viewer, and click Invite.
  3. You can also create a link under Invite links. People who open it join with the role you picked. Click ✕ next to a link to revoke it.

A collection can’t be shared directly. The dialog offers Convert to Folder…, which moves the collection’s items into a real folder with the same name.

Items other people share with you don’t count toward your sync limits. See Sync across devices.
